Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled .NET Developer with strong expertise in ASP.NET Core, ASP.NET MVC, C# and modern .NET technologies to design, develop, enhance and maintain scalable enterprise applications.

The primary purpose of this role is to deliver secure, high-performance and maintainable web applications and backend services that meet business requirements. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience in RESTful API development, third-party integrations, database design, Redis caching, automated testing, application performance optimisation and modernisation of existing applications.

The candidate will work closely with architects, business analysts, QA engineers, DevOps teams and other stakeholders within an Agile development environment to deliver quality software, resolve technical issues and support continuous improvement throughout the application development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

1. Application Development and Architecture

• Design, develop and maintain enterprise web applications using ASP.NET Core, ASP.NET MVC and C#.

• Build scalable, responsive and maintainable web applications in accordance with established software engineering standards.

• Develop business logic, reusable components and modular application architectures.

• Implement appropriate design patterns and coding practices to ensure application maintainability and scalability.

• Contribute to application modernisation initiatives and enhancements to existing systems.

2. API Development and Integration

• Design, develop, test and maintain RESTful APIs using ASP.NET Core Web API.

• Integrate applications with SOAP services, third-party APIs and external enterprise systems.

• Implement secure, reliable and efficient communication between applications and services.

• Handle API authentication, authorisation, validation, error responses and exception management.

• Troubleshoot integration issues and ensure the reliability and performance of API services.

3. Database Design and Performance Optimisation

• Design and implement efficient database structures and data access components.

• Optimise database queries and application data-access operations to improve performance.

• Implement caching strategies using Redis to reduce response times and improve application scalability.

• Analyse application performance bottlenecks and implement appropriate optimisation techniques.

• Ensure data integrity, reliability and efficient database interactions.

4. Testing and Code Quality

• Write and maintain unit tests and integration test cases to validate application functionality.

• Ensure adequate test coverage for business logic, APIs and critical application components.

• Participate in peer code reviews and provide constructive technical feedback.

• Follow coding standards, software design principles and development best practices.

• Identify and resolve defects to maintain application quality and stability.

5. Security, Logging and Monitoring

• Implement secure application development practices, including appropriate authentication and authorisation mechanisms.

• Apply input validation, exception handling and secure coding standards.

• Implement structured logging, monitoring and error-tracking mechanisms.

• Identify and resolve application vulnerabilities and production issues.

• Ensure applications meet relevant security, reliability and operational requirements.

6. Application Support and Troubleshooting

• Diagnose and resolve application defects, production incidents and performance issues.

• Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive measures.

• Monitor application behaviour and address reliability, scalability and availability concerns.

• Support application maintenance, enhancements and production releases.

• Maintain technical documentation and contribute to knowledge-sharing activities.

7. Agile Delivery and CI/CD

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews and retrospectives.

• Support CI/CD pipelines, automated build processes and production deployments.

• Coordinate with QA and DevOps teams to ensure smooth integration, testing and release activities.

• Deliver assigned development tasks within agreed timelines and quality expectations.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience in C#, ASP.NET Core, ASP.NET MVC and modern .NET technologies.

• Experience developing scalable web applications and enterprise-grade backend services.

• Proficiency in RESTful API design, development, testing and integration.

• Experience integrating SOAP services and third-party APIs.

• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, SOLID principles and common design patterns.

• Experience implementing business logic, reusable components and maintainable application architectures.

• Hands-on experience with Redis caching and application performance optimisation.

• Experience with database design, query optimisation and efficient data-access practices.

• Practical experience writing unit tests and integration test cases.

• Understanding of application security, authentication, authorisation and secure coding practices.

• Experience implementing logging, monitoring, exception handling and production troubleshooting.

• Familiarity with Git-based version control, code reviews and collaborative development practices.

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.

• Understanding of CI/CD processes, application build pipelines and production deployments.

• Strong analytical, debugging and problem-solving skills.

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Experience with modern .NET versions and application migration or modernisation initiatives.

• Familiarity with Entity Framework Core (EF Core) or other .NET data-access technologies.

• Experience with SQL Server or other relational database management systems.

• Knowledge of asynchronous programming, dependency injection and middleware in ASP.NET Core.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS.

• Experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.

• Knowledge of automated testing frameworks and test-driven development practices.

• Experience with observability tools, application performance monitoring and distributed logging.

• Familiarity with messaging systems, background services and distributed application architectures.

• Relevant Microsoft certifications in .NET development, Azure or related technologies.

• Experience delivering enterprise applications in complex, high-availability or regulated environments.
