About the Role
Business Analyst (x2 Positions)
Role Type: Permanent with Joan Technologies Ltd, Work in Client placeLocation: Exeter, EX2 7HR — minimum 2 days per week on-site (mandatory)
Number of Positions: 2
Role Overview
We are seeking two proactive Business Analysts to join a growing programme within an asset-centric organisation in the water utilities sector. These roles are foundational to the next phases of the programme, offering the right candidates the opportunity to directly shape and build out future project stages. We're looking for driven, hungry individuals who are eager to take ownership and grow with the programme, not just execute tasks.Key Responsibilities
- Gather, analyse, and document business and functional requirements from client stakeholders within an asset-centric operating environment.
- Work closely with Data Engineers, Architects, and Project Leads to translate requirements into deliverable solutions.
- Support process mapping, gap analysis, and solution design activities related to asset management processes.
- Contribute actively to shaping the next phases of the programme — this is a build-and-grow role, not a maintenance role.
- Facilitate workshops and stakeholder discussions, ensuring clear and effective communication with UK-based client teams.
- Produce clear documentation, user stories, and process artefacts to support delivery teams.
- Support UAT and change management activities as needed.
Required Skills & Experience
- Solid experience as a Business Analyst, ideally within asset-centric organisations (water utilities experience strongly preferred).
- Self-motivated, proactive, and eager to grow — comfortable stepping into ambiguity and helping shape upcoming project phases.
- Strong understanding of British workplace culture and communication norms, given close day-to-day interaction with UK-based client teams.
- Excellent requirements-gathering, documentation, and stakeholder facilitation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across technical and business teams.
- Must be able to commute to Exeter (EX2 7HR) at least 2 days per week.
Desirable
- Experience with asset management systems and processes in a utilities context.
- Familiarity in water utilities or other asset-heavy/asset-centric industries (energy, rail, telecoms infrastructure) will be highly regarded
- Agile/Scrum experience (writing user stories, backlog grooming, etc.).
Common Notes (Both Roles)
- Client Engagement: Sonata
- Work Mode: Hybrid — minimum 2 days per week on-site at Exeter (EX2 7HR) is a mandatory requirement, not flexible.
- Cultural Fit: Given the close, day-to-day collaboration with UK client teams, candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of British workplace culture, etiquette, and communication style.
- Domain Preference: Prior experience in water utilities or other asset-heavy/asset-centric industries (energy, rail, telecoms infrastructure) will be highly regarded.
